Welcome STCU Students!

As the summer draws to a close and a new academic year begins, I am delighted to welcome all of our students back to Shrewsbury Town College & University. Whether you’re continuing your studies or stepping onto the ground for the first time, this is an exciting time full of new opportunities, challenges, and achievements.

The recruitment drive for the 2024-2025 academic year has been a great success, with an impressive intake of students across all our courses. We’re thrilled to see so many eager faces, ready to begin their journey with us. Our goal has always been to provide a supportive, dynamic learning environment, and the strong numbers reflect both the quality of our programmes and the reputation we’ve built as a place where students can thrive.

This year, we have some exciting initiatives in place to help students not only excel in their studies but also develop the skills needed for future employment. As the Education & Employability Manager, I’m particularly excited about the expanded career development programmes, workshops, and industry partnerships we’ll be offering. These resources are designed to ensure every student leaves Shrewsbury Town College & University prepared and confident to enter the workforce or continue their academic journey.

I encourage all students to take advantage of the many opportunities ahead—get involved in extracurricular activities, build networks, and, most importantly, embrace the learning experience. I, along with the rest of the staff, look forward to supporting you throughout this exciting year. We are here to help you make the most of your time at the college and achieve your goals.

Once again, welcome back, and here’s to a successful and fulfilling academic year ahead!

– Calvin Latham, Education & Employability Manager

New signings:

Chris Lloyd – Post 16 Lead

“I’m really looking forward to welcoming everyone back and hitting the ground running on the pitch as we prepare for a busy schedule of games across the county! We’re excited to reintroduce our strength and conditioning programme, and we’re especially eager for our new physios to join us, providing support on both training and match days!”

Jonny Hughes – Post 16 Female Lead

“As the Post-16 Lead, I’m excited to work alongside our talented students this year, particularly in developing and promoting the female game within the college and university. There’s incredible potential here, and I’m eager to build a supportive and empowering environment where our female players can grow, succeed, and push the boundaries of what’s possible. This is an exciting time for women’s sports, and I’m looking forward to helping our students thrive both on and off the pitch”
