Why choose us?

For most of our students, football is why they choose us, but it doesn’t stop there.

Shrewsbury Town College and University is the only education provider in Shropshire supported by a professional football club, providing our students with unique opportunities that they cannot get anywhere else. We aim to support our students on and off the pitch, no matter what they are studying, and aspire to further their passion for sport in wide range of courses to prepare them for a career in the sports industry.

By studying at STFC College & University, students are able to learn from industry professionals, gain practical experience, and utilise the facilities that only we can provide. Whether they are studying, socialising or training, there is a place for them to thrive. Our courses are not just limited to playing football. From coaching to business studies, there are many pathways at STFC College for those with a passion for planning and analysis.

Student opportunities

In addition to their studies, students will be able to gain valuable hands-on experience through sessions provided by Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation. Outside of lessons, students will have the opportunity to coach, plan, and develop these sessions alongside our experienced coaching staff and deliver them to a variety of age ranges. Our connection with Shrewsbury Town Football Club allows our students to gain experience while studying industry recognised qualifications, that will put them at the forefront of gaining employment in the future.

In addition to their studies, students are able to travel to the stadium via local bus routes and our pick-up service outside Shrewsbury Train Station. There are local amenities surrounding the campus including a retail park, restaurants and supermarkets for any needs students may have.

Meet Teddy

Course: 2020 – Present

“I believe that these experiences have developed me not only as a coach, but as a person”

Since starting with Shrewsbury Town, Teddy has maximised his opportunities taking an active role in the sessions that we provide through work experience.

He is currently in his third year of studies and is completing a BSc in Football Coaching, Development & Administration and aspires to have a career within sports coaching.
