STCU launches pre-season Coaches Academy

STCU is excited to announce the successful launch of our pre-season Coaches Academy, designed to equip aspiring coaches with foundational skills in football coaching. Pre-season will see over 30 enthusiastic prospective students participate and complete the FA Playmaker course, the essential first step into the world of coaching.

The Coaches Academy aims to nurture and develop the next generation of football coaches by providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge to kickstart their coaching careers. The FA Playmaker course offers an excellent introduction to coaching, covering key aspects such as understanding player development, creating a safe and enjoyable environment, and planning and delivering effective coaching sessions.

Under the guidance of Alex Jones, one of our dedicated sports tutors, and Chris Lloyd, our post-16 training lead, students engaged in comprehensive training sessions that combined theoretical knowledge with practical applications.

“We are incredibly proud of the students who have completed the FA Playmaker course, so far and I’m looking forward to welcome more in the next few weeks,” said Alex Jones.

Chris Lloyd added, “The Coaches Academy is a fantastic opportunity for our students to gain valuable insights and hands-on experience in coaching. This initiative aligns with our commitment to providing high-quality training and development opportunities for our students, preparing them for future success.”

The completion of the FA Playmaker course during pre-season is just the beginning for these aspiring coaches. Shrewsbury Town College & University will continue to support their development through ongoing training and mentorship opportunities, ensuring they have the resources and guidance needed to thrive in their coaching careers.
